Facebook Testing New Pinterest-Like Feature
Facebook is in the early stages of testing a new Pinterest-like feature called Facebook Collections. For automotive industry companies, this new feature will finally let you see what products your Facebook fans want the most.
The new tool allows businesses to insert “Want” or “Collect” buttons on photos of products. It’s a way for Facebook users to create virtual wish lists and collections of products that they love and want to buy.
All personal Facebook accounts have access to Facebook Collections. However, only a handful of businesses actually have the ability to market their products with this new feature. According to NBC Technology, the list includes Pottery Barn, Victoria’s Secret and Neiman Marcus.
How It Works
Companies with access to Facebook Collections can insert the “Want” or “Collect” buttons on photos. You can see an example in the photo below. Notice how there is now a “Collect” button in the top left corner of the image.
Fans of the company page, in this instance Pottery Barn, have the ability to add the picture to a Wishlist on their profile. It is important to note that users must be a fan of the company page in order to add products to their Wishlists.
Once the item is added to your Wishlist, here is how it looks on your personal Facebook profile.
As noted earlier, only a select few businesses have access to this new feature. When it’s rolled out to more businesses, we’ll show you how to set it up in more detail.
For automotive industry companies that sell cars, parts and accessories, Facebook Collections looks like a great way to market and sell your products. The key benefit is that you’ll finally be able to see what Facebook fans are interested in buying particular products so you can better target them.
