How To Pick Text Message Marketing Keywords
These five tips will help you select the right text message keyword for your automotive retail store or auto repair shop.
Text message marketing is quickly becoming a highly effective marketing channel.
It’s cheap. It’s highly targeted. And most importantly, it produces results.
If you’re thinking about setting up a text message marketing campaign, you’ll need to select a keyword.
A keyword is the word or phrase that a customer will type into their cell phone to subscribe to your text message marketing campaign.
For example, you may see an advertisement such as: Text OIL to 111-11 to get coupons for free oil changes.
OIL is the keyword in the example above.
Selecting the right keyword is important. You need subscribers in order for your text message marketing campaign to be a success. And if you want subscribers, you’ll need a good keyword.
To help you choose the right keyword, here are five tips that you should follow.
1. Make It Easy To Remember – You want to select a keyword that customers will remember. Choose a keyword that has something to do with your business. If you run an auto repair shop, choose a keyword like “oil.” If you run a car dealership, pick a keyword such as “ford,” “chevy,” etc.
2. Choose Words That Are Easy To Spell – When selecting a keyword, you want to pick one that customers know how to spell. For example, avoid keywords such as “brakes.” People could misspell it as “breaks” instead of “brakes.”
3. Don’t Worry About Uppercase And Lowercase – It doesn’t matter how customers enter a keyword into their cell phone. For instance if the keyword is “car,” they can subscribe to your text message marketing campaign by typing “car,” “Car,” “cAr,” etc.
4. Multiple Words Are OK – If you’re thinking about using a keyword such as “oil change” or “car shop” go for it. Most text message marketing applications will accept multiple words with or without spaces. It doesn’t matter if the person types “oilchange” or “oil change.” They will still be able to subscribe to your text messages.
5. Have Back Up Keywords Ready – It’s possible some other business may already be using the keyword you want. That’s why it’s important to have a backup keyword when you are setting up your text message marketing campaign. Have two or three ready just in case.
Following these five tips will help you select the right keyword for your text message marketing campaign.
